Description
Luciana Grandi is a German-Brazilian artist whose work oscillates between expressive figuration and emotion. Her artistic journey has taken her beyond Rosenheim to international exhibitions in Europe and the USA. In Grandi's powerful paintings, intense colors, body-conscious gestures, and dynamic compositions merge. Her works radiate a physical energy in which human emotions, social themes, and aesthetic sensitivity find a dense visual expression. This is particularly evident in her dance series Noch einen Tanz and Special Sessions, in which she depicts bodies in ecstatic motion, frozen in moments full of rhythm, intoxication, and inner tension. These paintings celebrate the vitality of the body, the expression of the soul, and the poetry of movement. Grandi's style is characterized by bold brushstrokes, luminous contrasts, and an intuitive use of color, often combining red, green, blue, and violet. The bodies appear almost sculptural, as if modeled from paint itself—shaped by coarse, impulsive strokes and thick layers of paint applied both with brushes and bare hands. Her painting technique carries a powerful physical presence, perceptible in every agitated application of paint, as if the entire creative process were an act of immediate, physical engagement with the material. Her figures appear full of tension and at the same time vulnerable, captured in scenes that speak of intimacy, strength, and connection. Another central part of her work is the series Favela Lights, in which she portrays life in Brazilian neighborhoods with empathy, depth, and a sense of beauty beyond clichés. Scenes of everyday life, encounters on the sidewalk, conversations, and simple rituals are translated into vibrant colors and geometric compositions. Grandi has participated in renowned exhibitions in Paris, New York, Miami, Luxembourg, Helsinki, Le Mans, Salzburg, Venice, and Munich.
